Safe Haven Rescue, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to removing horses from the slaughter pipeline.
Our Mission
Mission Statement: To remove and/or prevent horses from entering the slaughter pipeline; to train if needed and rehome those horses into secure forever homes; to increase awareness of the plight of these animals and strengthen the human equine bond while fostering the humane treatment of horses.
Our Trainer/Caretaker
Safe Haven Rescue Inc. is fortunate to be located at Whispering Meadows, LLC, Hudson, NY where trainer/owner Cortney Scionti resides on premises. Cortney utilizes Psychology of the Herd in her everyday interaction with the sentient beings of Safe Haven Rescue. Understanding herd psychology allows Cortney to communicate in an easy and relaxed manner with the traumatized souls of Safe Haven. She evaluates their health, temperament, abilities, trainability, and above all, their mental state while giving them the required time to heal.
Cortney is an accomplished, skilled trainer who has worked with horses of many breeds and levels. She has trained client horses, as well as horses under the Whispering Meadows LLC banner from trail companions to Class A show horses, earning World Champion titles.

Cortney also leads a 4H equine group and has been a clinician at various venues. Always willing to educate people in the art of the horse, Cortney offers lessons, clinics, camps, and workshops. Cortney is often described as a horse whisperer. She says, " Not only do we whisper to our horses, we also listen".
